The San Diego Padres have made some moves that have greatly improved their team without making any major changes to their existing lineup. Garciaparra has shone since coming over from Atlanta and is a candidate for MVP. Pedro Martinez has laid to rest any questions about the best pitcher in the SCBL. Will the injury to David Wells kill their Silver Cup dreams this season however? |

The Yankees have turned it on as of late, recently winning 10 straight games. They went into a little bit of a tailspin but seem to be excelling at the right time. Rumours of some key acquisitions are abound and it looks like if they can Gel together this team is ready to hoist the Cup. |

Pittsburgh, like the Yanks and Padres lead their division by a near insurmountable margin and as with those other two teams, can they stay motivated. The Pirates offence is something to be afraid of with 198 HR already this season and 5 players with a shot at 30 + this season. The pitching staff has been a bit of a disappointment. |

The Giants are charging for the wild card spot, with the freefall of the New York Mets it looks as though they may havea chance to catch them. It seems as though the whole lineup has similar numbers 15-20 2B, 15-20 HR. Their pitching staff needs a boost in form of a star starter for the postseason if they hope to compete with the Big 3. |

It seems as though all the talk of overachieving has finally convinced the Mets that they were. If they can hold on to the wildcard spot and try to recapture some of their early season success they may be able to turn it around at just the right time. |

The Jays still have an outside chance of getting into the Wild Card spot and have been hovering right around the .500 mark all season. A small winning streak will propel them right into the thick of things but some minor moves may be necessary to accomplish this. Toronto has not made a single move all season. |

The Angels' Dustin Hermanson and Craig Biggio are having great seasons but everything after that in the Angel clubhouse is a little wattered down. It is surprising that the club is only 8 games below .500. If you negate the injury to Stottlemyre they may even be challenging for the wildcard. |

The Tigers continue to underachieve, just when they put some wins together and get close to .500 they seem to fall apart at the seems and fall back into oblivion. They have the 3rd lowest homerun total in the league just 2 ahead of lowly Cleveland. |

What would have this club been able to accomplish if they would have kept that pitching staff. They are among the league leaders in all offensive categories but with a pitching staff that has 3 players under a 4 ERA and a team ERA of 5.22 they cant be expected to compete...yet. |

Looks like new ownership is just what this club needs. Will a declaration to make changes rally the troops...I guess we'll have to wait until next season. |

It has been a long fall...this team needs someone in the lineup needs to step up and take charge...next season. |

More new ownership...Hopefully Mr. Sondrup can turn around this franchise. Apparently someone let Bobby Jones know he wasn't supposed to be pitching that well... |

The Braves have gotten better for the future with the last few moves they made but owner Paul Legault isn't one who likes to EVER be in the rebuilding stage. Are more changes immenent. |

The Indians are a difficult team to rate, they aren't competitive right now, but even if half the players on this roster pan out they will certainly be on the opposite end of the Poll very soon. |
