SCBL POWER POLL

The SCBL power poll is based on entire roster depth as outputted from BBedit.  It is not an exact science but the commissioners' office deems it the fairest way to determine strength of teams coming out of the dispersal draft.

1		Detroit Tigers	Detroit has a strong club throughout their lineup.  Their starters are among the best but their bullpen needs improvement.
2		Anaheim Angels	The Angels have great infield and outfields and with Griffey in centre they have one of the best ever.  Same old story, bullpen needs improvement.
3		San Francisco Giants	The Giants have a consistent lineup with no real holes to be filled and a couple of great players thrown in.
4		Baltimore Orioles	The first club in the poll from the East Division.  Additions to the pitching staff should make them the favourites to win the East.
5		Toronto Blue Jays	Toronto has a good pitching staff and are very strong up the middle.  Some minor tweaking should put them in contention.
6		Atlanta Braves	Atlanta could prove to be the team to beat this season, but there is always concern when Jose Offerman is your starting 2B.  Can Nomar get balls on the right side of the infield as well?
7		New York Yankees	The Yankees have a very balanced team and should score some runs. Base stealers beware Ivan runs the show in NY.  Their pitching needs a little improvement.
8		Cleveland Indians	Cleveland has a quality lineup and a couple additions (Jim Thome) should have themselves competing with Detroit for the division lead.
9		San Diego Padres	The Padres have log jams at a couple of positions 1B and 2B.  They need to make some moves to shore up other areas.
10		Seattle Mariners	Seattle Boasts one of the greatest pitching staffs ever assembled.  Their lineup could use some mustard but if they score 2 a game that may be all they need.
11		Houston Astros	Balanced everywhere but some starters are needed to compete in their strong division.
12		Boston Red Sox	If Pitching wins Championships Boston may win a few.  With some additions to their lineup they will climb the power poll.
13		Pittsburgh Pirates	Pittsburgh's lack of speed could be their nemesis.  With a below average infield the depth here comes from their bullpen, will the score be 10-9 before that?
14		New York Mets	If Big Mac can hit 70 what more offence do you need?   The rest of the offence is average however and Mac can't do it all by himself.  Question is, can he pitch?
